The Thrill of Bluebirds

If you've ever seen a lovely North American bluebird in flight or heard its melodious song, chances are that Camp Fire girls and boys have been building and placing nesting boxes along a bluebird trail in your community.

For several years, these young Camp Fire members have been participating in their organization's major national bluebird conservation effort, "Save the Bluebird."

In recognition of this effort, internationally-renowned wildlife artist Edward J. Bierly was commissioned to capture the exquisite beauty of these endangered native American birds. Inspired by Camp Fire's watchword "Wohelo," which srands for work, health and love, Bierly imaginatively protrayed the western bluebirds in a setting illustrating work, the eastern bluebirds in a setting illustrating health and the mountain bluebirds in a setting illustrating love.
