His style is an amazing amalgam of musical approaches rich with guitar heritage, guided by a well-developed rhythmic & harmonic sense, and powered by unequaled, ferocious technical ability.

Everything about this record is hot, from Gatton's searing chops to the fire engine red vinyl they were pressed on. With the four thousand first pressing red LPs fetching up to 100 dollars (if you can find one) in collector's record shops. This CD is a blessing complete with 2 previously unreleased live bonus cuts!

A recording of guitarist Danny Gatton's legendary instrumental quartet: The Redneck Jazz Explosion, recorded live December 31, 1978 at The Cellar Door, Washington, DC. Features Danny Gatton, Buddy Emmons, Scott Taylor, and Steve Wolf. Joyous memories will be rekindled for those fortunate fans who witnessed the musical magic the fiery foursome created nightly on the bandstand.

Live from The Berkeley Square until approximately 1:00 a.m., when the fire department shut down the show. (There is still speculation as to whether it was the overcrowded conditions or Gatton's incendiary guitar playing that brought on the fire chief that evening). Club owner Victor Ratto can be heard on tape breaking the news to Robert Gordon that he would be allowed one final song. The band closed with, appropriately enough, a frenetic version of "Red Hot".
